What SeeMee collects, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.

Updated November 2026

On this page 25 sections

The short version

  • We don’t sell personal information or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
  • Your location stays on your device. It’s sent only when you check in at an event for its badge, and it isn’t stored.
  • Your plans and badges are shown to your friends, unless you change that in Settings.
  • You can delete your account at any time, on the web or in the app.

This is a summary. The full policy below is what counts.

Introduction

SeeMee (“SeeMee,” “we,” “us”) operates myseemee.com and the SeeMee app for iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who can see it when you create an account, publish a page, use the app, or visit a creator’s page as a viewer. By using SeeMee, you agree to this policy.

Who this applies to

Creators who manage events on the web, people who use the app, and visitors who browse without an account. Public profile and event information is visible to anyone with the link.

Account information

Email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash by our hosting provider), display name, @name, profile photo, bio, social links, and an optional brand logo. When you create an account or pick your name in the app, we record that you agreed to our Terms and Community rules, and when.

What you do in the app

Events you save, your plans (going or interested), comments, friends and friend requests, people you follow or block, reports you send, badges you earn, and events you host. Comments are public and show your name and @name. Your plans, and the badges you earn, are shown to your friends unless you change that in Settings. Up to three badges you pick for your profile’s showcase are public. A badge appears on your profile or in your friends’ Feed only after its event has ended and its check-in window has closed, so it never shows where you are right now.

Your profile and who can find you

Your name, @name, profile photo, bio, and verified-host mark are your public profile. While “Show me in search” is on (it is unless you turn it off), people can find you by name or @name and see you in friend suggestions. Turning it off keeps you out of search and suggestions, hides your profile in the app from people who are not your friends and have no friend request with you, and stops previews of your profile link on myseemee.com. It does not make your account private: your name, @name, photo, and bio can still be seen on myseemee.com by anyone who has your @name, your comments still show your name, and your friends can always find you. People who are not signed in see only your name, @name, photo, and verified mark in the app.

Location

On the web, a viewer’s location is used only on their device to sort nearby events and is never sent to us. In the app, your location is used on your phone to show how far events are. It is sent to SeeMee only when you check in at an event for its badge: we compare it with the event’s location to confirm you are there, and we do not store it. The app uses your location only while you are using it, never in the background.

Crash reports

While “Share crash reports” is on in the app’s Settings (it is on unless you turn it off), the app sends us crash and performance reports from Apple’s MetricKit: the app version, iOS version, phone model, technical details of the code that was running, and why it stopped. They contain no name, email, account, location, or anything you wrote, and we delete them after 30 days. To stop abuse, our server keeps a scrambled one-way code made from a random key your phone creates each day and the internet address the report came from, for one day.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store your device’s push token (and whether it is a test or App Store build), your phone’s time zone so quiet hours follow your local time, and your notification settings, so we can send them through Apple’s push service. Your Activity in the app keeps items for up to 90 days. Reminders for events you save are scheduled on your phone.

Hosting and verification

If you apply to be a verified host, we keep your venue or brand name, the Instagram account and website you give us, your note, and our decision, so a moderator can review it. Events you host are public once they are on the map, with your name as host. Before that, and when you change one, a moderator may review it, and the reasons it was flagged are kept with it. People who saved or planned your event are told when you change its time, place, or ticket site, or cancel it.

Reports and moderation

When you report something, we keep what you reported, why, and when. The person you report is not told who reported them. We keep a record of every moderation decision: what was done, to what, by which moderator, and why. A suspension stays on the account until it ends. To limit abuse, we keep a short log of actions like searches, friend requests, follows, invite links, and reports: one day, or 30 days for friend requests.

Connected accounts

If you connect a Bluesky account, the app reads your Bluesky timeline on your phone only, and looks up Bluesky handles through Cloudflare’s DNS service. SeeMee stores nothing about your Bluesky account on its servers.

Kept on your phone

Photos you pick before they are uploaded, calendar entries you add, event drafts, and your app settings stay on your phone. The camera is used only to scan badge codes at the door, and nothing is recorded.

Other information

Usage data (Pro): aggregated analytics such as page views, calendar adds, map opens, and ticket link clicks. Save counts shown on events are rounded and appear only once at least three people have saved an event, never who. Going and interested counts work the same way and leave out people who keep their plans to themselves. Billing data: processed by Stripe; we receive subscription status and customer identifiers, not full card numbers. Technical data: standard logs (IP address, browser or device type, timestamps) for security and reliability.

What we don’t do

We do not sell personal information or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

How we use information

To provide and improve the service; show your page, comments, plans, and badges to the people your settings allow; confirm badge check-ins; send the notifications you turn on; enforce plan limits; process subscriptions; send essential account emails; fix crashes; review reports and keep the community safe; prevent abuse; and comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

Content you make public is visible to the public, and other SeeMee members see what your settings allow. We use service providers who process data on our behalf: Supabase (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Google (Places autocomplete and map links on the web), Apple (maps, push notifications, and crash reports), and Cloudflare (Bluesky handle lookups, which include only the handle being looked up). When you connect Bluesky, your phone talks to Bluesky directly. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the service.

Cookies and local storage

On the web we use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in sessions, preferences, and security. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work without them. The app keeps your sign-in in the phone’s secure storage and its settings on the phone.

Data retention

We keep account data while your account is active. Deleting your account, on the web or in the app’s Settings, deletes your profile and profile photo, events, comments, saves, plans, friends, follows, blocks, invite links, Activity, push tokens, settings, host applications, and the events you host (they come off the map, and people who saved them are told). Badges you earned stay in their event’s numbered list without your name, so edition numbers never repeat. Reports and moderation records have no set deletion date: reports you sent are kept without your name, and reports about you and decisions about your account are kept after you delete it, so we can deal with abuse. Activity items older than 90 days are deleted as new ones arrive, and crash reports after 30 days. Backups may hold deleted data for a limited time, subject to legal requirements.

Your choices

In the app you can choose who can find you, send you friend requests, and see your plans and badges; pick which badges your profile shows; replace your invite link; turn off crash reports and notifications; change location access; block people; and delete your account. On the web you can update your profile, manage billing through Stripe’s customer portal, and delete your account from Manage profile. You may opt out of non-essential communications where offered.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

SeeMee is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe someone under 18 has provided us data.

International users

If you access SeeMee from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or where our service providers operate.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
